SEED Syllables / Skydancer (blastocyst)

Presented at the Barbican Conservatory, 2025.

‘Seed syllables’ are sound symbols contained within mantras, which rather than having a literal meaning encompass the absolute as primordial vibrations of the universe.
On scientific level they are acoustic oscillations, which reverberated through the early cosmos as quantum fluctuations of particles.

The seed syllables in Sanskrit and Pali are instated as repetitions in call and response together with a sangha community. Forming seed pods of communal voices in the Fertile Ground among the plant life, they tap beyond conceptual language, germinating karmic seeds for evolution of consciousness.

Skydancer (blastocyst) is an edible offering that accompanies SEED Syllables.

Blastocysts - clusters of dividing cells that precede the development of a life form, are life-seeds which carry both embryonic and dormant potentials for growth, much like the potential within human consciousness: the mind-seeds that are sown have the capacity to sprout.

The edible metaphor endorses the possibility of thriving even while embedded in economic, political, techno-scientific and other value systems that may be misaligned with our personal values.
